Days 56 to 59 – So, back from our break and batteries recharged – no more hitting pause until completion!

Not much visible has been achieved these last 4 days however a lot has gone on.  The skylight in the hallway has been covered to protect against rain – good job as it chucked it down on Monday night.  Fortunately summer has returned!  Just shows what a great decision the skylight was – it’s quite dark down the hallway without it.

The drain pipe for the kitchen sink has been installed (had to be done before plastering) and the water supply pipe to the front terrace also put in, for the same reason.  The balance of the floor and wall tiles were successfully delivered on Tuesday, and the plaster and plasterer’s gear on Wednesday – everyone turned up when they said they would.

Plastering is underway and what a difference it makes – adds a lot of brightness to the penthouse.  It should be complete in 4 to 5 days, including rendering the terrace walls.

The window sills have been chosen and ordered (approx 2 weeks to cut them).  They’re a driftwood effect travertine finish.

A quote has been requested for concrete for the roof including guys to pour it and a powerfloat to smooth it – this should get done in around 3 to 4 weeks time.

Other than plastering not much more will get done this week – next couple of weeks the focus will be on plumbing and tiling – all fun jobs at last!  Ironically once the plastering/rendering is complete hardly any of the work done up to day 55 will be visible!!

Next post will probably be around Tuesday of next week ….
